Located at the corner of Ferris and Bridge Roads, Cobblebank, the new Cobblebank’s new multi-purpose community facility ‘Cobbleblank Stadium’ is now open!
Masterplanned in design to support the growing needs for additional indoor courts for the Melton region, the new indoor stadium will increase community participation and provide greater access for a range of sports.
The stadium includes the following facilities to support basketball, netball, badminton, table tennis, volleyball, futsal, school curriculum and community health and wellness programs:● Six indoor high-ball courts (including show court and seating)
● Player, referee and public amenities
● Administration and reception
● Flexible meeting and social spaces
● Kiosk and seating areas
● Car parking
● The six-court stadium has been designed to maximise natural light, minimise energy consumption, use environmentally sustainable materials, and use renewable energy.
Featuring high-level thermal insulation, large double-glazed windows, solar panels, and efficient ventilation systems throughout, and will be powered by a 100 per cent renewable energy supply.
There are also water-efficient bathroom fittings, as well as rainwater tanks which will be used to water the indigenous plants in the landscaping and to flush the toilets.
Charging facilities will also be available in the car park for visitors with electric vehicles, and those who choose to ride their bike can fill their tyres or tighten their brakes at the bicycle repair station.
Sustainable and recyclable materials to build the stadium have been sourced from environmentally certified and responsible suppliers including timber and steel products. Concrete mixes have been made using recycled water and cement that requires significantly less greenhouse gas emissions to produce than traditional Portland cement. Low chemical paints, adhesives, sealants, and carpets were also selected for the build.
Environmental management systems have been in place throughout construction, with contractors actively diverting construction waste away from landfill, and prioritising staff training and wellbeing practices.
